About us
Our Record Since 2022
Since taking office in 2022, we’ve made neighbourhood safety a first order priority. We set clear commitments: closer joint work with the police and council enforcement, faster responses to ASB reports, targeted investment in CCTV at hotspots, better lighting by stations and high streets, and stronger support for victims of domestic abuse.
Through the Barnet Safer Communities Partnership we have stepped up patrols in town centres, installed and upgraded CCTV where residents asked for it, and backed youth and community projects that deter repeat ASB.
We also delivered a borough-wide programme of road and pavement repairs, resurfacing priority routes and fixing defects to make walking, cycling and driving safer, alongside quicker clean-ups of fly-tipping.
On housing we set a 1,000 new council homes target and a plan to acquire 200–300 homes each year so local families move into good quality, genuinely affordable homes. We have delivered record council home provision for new families and reformed tenancy processes so 1,800 families benefit from fairer, faster allocations and better support.
We have invested in preventing homelessness so fewer people reach crisis. Since 2022 we have managed council tax responsibly to protect vital services and expanded council tax support for households on the lowest incomes.
