Barnet’s Labour administration will have completed more than a marathon of fixing streets and pavements in the last two years by spring 2025, according to new figures.
In May 2022, the Conservative administration left Barnet’s roads broken and worn down.
Labour’s reaction was to announce a £97 million repair programme. More than 26 miles – 30 miles in total – will have been repaired over two years by May: ten miles of streets and 20 miles of pavements.
Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change Alan Schneiderman said:
“Labour has the focus to take pride in Barnet, unlike the reckless Liz Truss Conservatives.
“That’s why we are committed to fixing as many of our streets and pavements as possible.
“It’s great we’ve completed our first marathon, but we are going to keep going – it’s what residents deserve.”
