Childs Hill’s Labour Councillors have welcomed the removal of ‘unsightly’ lockers near Golders Green underground station which many residents felt were a magnet for anti-social behaviour.

The removals come after local councillors Matthew Perlberg, Nigel Young and Guilia Innocenti worked with Barnet’s Labour Council, Labour’s GLA member Anne Clarke for Barnet and Camden and TfL.

Councillor Perlberg said: “Local Labour Councillors have voiced residents’ concerns over the unsightly lockers on the green space next to Golders Green Station and have been working hard with TfL and Assembly Member Anne Clarke AM to get them removed. I want to thank all the residents who supported the campaign, as our focus is to deliver on their priorities”

“We are pleased TfL have taken this action in response to our campaign.”

Local resident and Labour council candidate for Childs Hill Noam Herberg added:

“These lockers attracted graffiti and there were safety concerns as they are were alongside a busy footpath which residents use to get to and from the station, particularly at night.  I am pleased after engagement with TfL that they are gone and we can focus on how we improve this important thoroughfare for local residents.”

The lockers are also known as Automated Parcel Machines or APMs and were operated by company InPost.
