Childs Hill’s Labour councillors have found a way forward on the location of collection lockers, known as Automated Parcel Machines or APMs, in Golders Green.

The APMs are operated by delivery company InPost and have been located by Golders Green station on an area of green space valued by local residents.

Transport for London (TfL) have agreed to move the APMs at a meeting with councillors and InPost held on Tuesday 24th June which was also attended by Labour’s GLA assembly member for Barnet and Camden, Anne Clarke.

There were also concerns that the location of the APMs could create a community security issue and were obtrusive upon the nearby conservation area.

Councillors were also supported in their concerns by Barnet’s Labour Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, Councillor Alan Schneiderman.

Childs Hill Labour Councillor, Nigel Young, said: “Collection lockers are convenient for residents and we want people in Childs Hill and Golders Green to have this facility.

“But it has to be in the right place. Residents voiced their concerns and we were happy to make sure they were heard.

“We will continue to work with TfL and InPost to ensure this matter is finally resolved as quickly as possible.”

Barnet and Camden’s Labour GLA Assembly Member and Barnet Councillor, Anne Clarke, said: “A number of residents have raised concerns about this location. It’s good to see TfL and InPost taking the issue seriously. At short notice, we arranged a site visit where they agreed to move the locker. We look forward to the new location being identified.”
