Barnet Council’s mission to fix the borough’s roads has received a boost from the Labour Government.

Ministers have agreed to increase central funding for fixing potholes for 2025/2026. If the increase is sustained, it will deliver almost £5 million over the next four years.

The increase for the upcoming year is £1.2 million.

It will support Barnet Labour’s £97 million programme of fixing the borough’s roads and pavements left wrecked by the previous Conservative administration.

The Labour Government is also supporting motorists by stopping the Conservatives’ planned rise in fuel duty and setting up a taskforce to tackle runaway insurance premiums.

Barnet Labour’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change Alan Schneiderman said:

“Barnet Conservatives left our roads and pavements falling apart. It’s great to be be working with a Labour Government to fix them again.”
