Tackling anti-social behaviour is a priority for Barnet Labour.
That is why one of the first things Barnet Labour did on taking over the council was ensuring that anti-social behaviour that occurred anywhere in the borough can be reported.
Barnet Labour introduced a Public Space Protection Order to cover the entire borough of Barnet. That means we can take action against:
- anti-social drunkenness
- harassment
- failure to clean up dog waste
- aggressive dogs
- public toileting
- aggressive begging
- driving across inappropriate spaces
- unlicensed fireworks
- inappropriate barbeques
- promoting music events without permission
- uses, shares or supplies recreational drugs or recreational drug paraphernalia in a public space.

Along with revitalising a CCTV network left half broken by the Conservatives and working with the police, some neighbourhoods have seen a one-third drop in the number of anti-social behaviour incidents.
We have also taken action against anti-social congregating of scooter riders outside fast food shops and maintained summer security patrols in our parks.
Barnet Labour’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Participation, Councillor Sara Conway, said: “Everyone should be able to feel safe and enjoy our public spaces, which is why we are taking action on anti-social behaviour.
