Barnet Labour has a £97million five-year plan to fix Barnet’s roads and pavements from 2024 to 2029. This is the largest ever sustained investment into Barnet’s highways.

Barnet Conservatives left much of a borough in a state of disrepair when they voted out of office in 2022.

More than two thirds of CCTV cameras were broken. And are now working.

Scrapping the community skips programme risked increased fly tipping. We brought them back.

The Conservatives reduced street cleaning. We doubled deep cleans.

Just as Barnet Labour has taken action on those areas, we are taking action on fixing our streets and pavements.

The investment in Barnet by Labour comes after total real terms cuts of £100 million by the national Conservative government to the borough since it came to power.

But despite the difficult financial situation and charging less in council tax than any of our neighbouring boroughs, Barnet Labour has made fixing our roads and pavements a priority.

Barnet Labour’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, Alan Schneiderman said:

“Barnet Labour are prioritising ensuring our roads and payments are in a decent state.

“Potholes, broken roads and cracked payments make everyone’s life harder: motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

“But through prudent management of the council, we have managed to put together a £97 million programme of fixing our roads.

“We will be laser-focussed on improving our highways in the years ahead.

“Labour will always take care of our streets, unlike the spend-slashing Conservatives.”
