Following the news of the situation in Afghanistan, Cllr Anne Clarke, Childs Hill Labour Councillor and Assembly Member for Barnet & Camden said:

“Barnet Labour grieves for those who have lost their homes, their livelihoods and those who now live in fear or are seeking asylum owing to the situation in Afghanistan.

“Barnet is home to many people who arrived in this country as asylum seekers. We look forward to welcoming a new group of Afghan refugees to Britain. We call on Barnet Council to extend the hand of friendship & humanity by welcoming refugees to our borough.”
