Conservative Barnet Council have published a draft Local Plan identifying eight sites for potential development across East Barnet for a total of 887 more properties in addition to the Victoria Quarter development at the former gas works site in New Barnet. The Local Plan includes:
- 199 units on the Sainsbury’s site in New Barnet Town Centre
- 190 units on Albert Road, New Barnet at the entrance to the old gas works site IN ADDITION to the Victoria Quarter development
- 148 units on the Danegrove former playing field
- 110 units at 45-69 East Barnet Road in New Barnet Town Centre
A further 240 new properties are slated for four other sites in the ward.
Local campaigner and East Barnet candidate, Linda Lusingu said: “This draft Local Plan lays bare the extent of plans for overdevelopment in East Barnet and shows that a vote for the Barnet Conservatives is a vote for overdevelopment.”
