Totteridge and Whetstone Underground Station has moved closer to step-free access after the Mayor, Sir Sadiq Khan, called for the renovation to be a priority, today (Wednesday 25th March).
Whetstone’s Labour Councillor Ella Rose-Jacobs said that the decision was the result of working collaboratively with City Hall.
She added: “My co-councillor Ezra Cohen and I have been working closely with local MP Dan Tomlinson, Assembly Member Anne Clarke and the Mayor to push step free access after Barnet Labour arranged a petition with more than 500 signatories.
“This is the result of local councillors having a grown-up relationship with City Hall. The Conservatives just want to play politics and get nothing done.”
Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden, Anne Clarke said: “It is great that the Mayor is pushing this forward. This ensures everyone can access the tube services from this station – it’s great news for disabled people, older people and those with young families.”
