Barnet Labour has planted 3,000 trees across the borough since coming to power in 2022.

The information was released ahead of the recent Full Council meeting of the borough on Tuesday 27th January.

Leading wards include Childs Hill, where 267 trees have been planted, East Barnet with 162, West Hendon with 157 and Brunswick Park with 156.

Tree planting is part of Barnet Labour’s Net Zero drive for 2042 – ensuring that as much harmful carbon dioxide is taken out of the atmosphere as is put into it.

Barnet Labour’s Cabinet member for Environment and Climate Change, Councillor Alan Schneiderman, said:

“Labour is ambitious for the environment. We have planted more than 3,000 trees. The Conservatives axed community skips but we have brought them back to help tackle fly tipping. And we are introducing food waste recycling bins that Barnet Conservatives still oppose.

“The Conservatives are led by a self-declared Net Zero Sceptic, while we will back the Government’s drive to decarbonise the grid by 2030.

“Only Labour can be trusted to take action for our environment, the Conservatives just do not care enough about this agenda”
