Meanwhile tackling crime and antisocial behaviour has been bolstered by our upgraded and expanded CCTV system, which was left two-thirds broken by the previous Conservative administration.
Barnet Labour has also introduced new enforcement powers under our Borough-wide Public Space Protection Order, and improved partnership working.
Councillors, council officers and police officers regularly take ‘ward walks’ focused on action to deal with problem spots.
Council Leader Labour’s Barry Rawlings said: “Unlike the incompetent Conservatives, we care for our people and places. In tough financial times we cannot do every we want to, straight away. But by administering responsibly we are delivering the steady improvements on safety and cleanliness Barnet residents want to see.”
