Bringing back the community skips programme was a priority when Labour was elected to run Barnet Council in 2022.

For two decades the Conservatives neglected Barnet.

They neglected our safety, letting 70 per cent of our CCTV cameras to become broken.

They neglected to tackle trouble spots, which is why Labour brought in ward walks of council staff and police to identify problem areas in each ward to be tackled.

They even neglected to make the big decisions.

Instead, they handed them over to a multi-billion pound international corporation.

Barnet residents had to foot the bill, your taxes flying off to shareholders around the world.

They also neglected the state of our streets, removing the community skips programme.

Labour has brought them back. Every ward has been visited four times per year since the initiative began and our streets are tidier.

Before Labour came into administration in 2019-20, the levels of graffiti and litter were worse than Keep Britain Tidy expected of a London borough.

Now they are better than the standards set by Keep Britain Tidy. You can see the difference all around us.

“That’s why we doubled our residential street cleaning and brought back the community skips programme that the Conservatives had ditched.
