North Finchley and Finchley Central’s Town Centres are to get a spring clean in preparation for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June this year, thanks to a request from West Finchley Councillor Kath McGuirk. Previous Jubilee Celebrations have encouraged clean-up operations around high streets and Town Centres through the “Clean for the Queen” campaign.
Cllr McGuirk brought a member’s item to the Finchley and Golders Green Area Committee on Tuesday 22nd March calling for the clean-up, which was unanimously approved. As a result of Cllr McGuirk’s initiative other councillors will be encouraged to suggest town centre clean-ups for the Platinum Jubilee.
Cllr McGuirk said: “This year sees the first ever Platinum Jubilee for a British Monarch, and after two years of Covid lockdowns the public are ready for a big celebration, but our Town Centres in Finchley are looking very dirty at the moment, so I’ve asked for a deep clean to tidy them up.”Ends.
