Statement from Cllr Moore on Monitoring Officer

Following news published today that Barnet's Monitoring Officer has left the council's employ by mutual consent, Leader of the Barnet Labour Group Cllr Alison Moore said:

"I welcome the fact that the Chief Executive has now appointed someone who is legally qualified as interim Monitoring Officer. It’s vital that whomever is appointed in the permanent role of Monitoring Officer at Barnet Council should be a legally qualified person, and this should be part of the job description and skills set in the advert that goes out to recruit to this role. I will be moving this at the Remuneration Committee meeting on 13th and as an amendment at Policy & Resources on 14th October."
