This meeting follows four other successful events - a public engagement launch event that took place in November, and three formal evidence sessions.
Leader of the Labour Group, Cllr Alison Moore said: "As part of our work looking into increasing the supply of affordable homes the Commission is keen to look at other housing models including co-operatives and mutuals, and to take evidence on encouraging greater tenant participation.
“We’re very pleased therefore to be hearing from the Chair of the London Federation of Housing Co-ops and the former CEO of CDS Co-operatives on Monday night."
Labour's Housing Spokesperson, Cllr Ross Houston said: "We’ll also be hearing from local trade unions on how the high cost of housing in the borough is affecting the recruitment and retention of teachers in our schools, and we’ll also be getting a view from two of our prominent local bloggers who are involved in local housing campaigns."
Barnet's Labour councillors have set-up the Housing Commission to look into how Barnet can increase the supply of affordable homes, and help improve standards in the private rented sector.
The Commission is Chaired by Nicky Gavron AM and is made up of independent housing experts, local community representatives and Labour councillors. You can find out more about our Commissioners here.
The Commission will meet at least six times over the next 8 months, and will be taking evidence from housing professionals, other London boroughs and the local community. The meetings will all be open to the public to attend.
Anyone can submit written evidence to the Commission by emailing email@example.com.
