Save our Emergency Services

We the undersigned residents of Barnet and Camden petition against the cuts to our emergency services due to the decisions of the Conservative Government and Conservative Mayor of London.

Since 2010, our two boroughs have already lost 288 police officers and 208 PCSOs resulting in police station closures and the end of the Safer Neighbourhood Teams. After the £600 million cut so far, the Met now faces a further £400 million of cuts under the Conservatives despite the Chancellor’s promise to maintain police grants. The future of the remainder of the PCSOs is in doubt, so each ward could end up with just one PC; we are also likely to see the end of all Chief Inspectors; the end of local borough policing; more station closures and more privatisations.  The London Fire Brigade faces losing 13 fire engines on top of the 10 stations and 14 fire engines the Mayor cut 2 years ago. The London Ambulance Service has been put into special measures due to its poor performance.

The duty of the Mayor and Government is to protect all residents and we call on them to meet their duty to us by ending their cuts programme now and to ensure the police, fire and ambulance services are fully funded and able to provide the level of service that we need and are entitled to expect.
