Message of solidarity for teachers

Leader of the Labour Group, Cllr Barry Rawlings said: "On behalf of the Barnet Labour Group I extend a message of solidarity to teachers taking industrial action on 5 July to address funding shortages for all schools, and a teacher recruitment and retention crisis due to worsening pay and conditions.

"Schools' funding has been cut over time, and we now face the added uncertainty of the government's new national funding formula which may result in a further cut to Barnet schools of £20m.

"Our children's education is important, we must ensure it is funded properly."
