Match funding secured for improving shops in Salcombe Gardens NW7

Council match funding of £20,000 for improvements to the parade of shops in Salcombe Gardens NW7 was secured at last night’s Hendon Area Committee after an emergency request was made by Labour councillor Adam Langleben on behalf of the Mill Hill Neighbourhood Forum and Mill Hill councillor Val Dushinsky.

The Mill Hill Neighbourhood Forum had successfully applied for £20,000 funding from Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to improve the parade and shop fronts, but this was conditional on Barnet Council agreeing match funding and a decision was needed before September. Now that the match funding has been agreed, a further £25,580 needs to be raised from local businesses and residents - £653 has already been pledged by 47 residents.

The money will fund the following improvements:

-       New shop fronts, awnings, shutters

-       Renewed paving

-       Replace the broken bollards with seating & a few trees

Cllr Adam Langleben said: “I'm delighted that the Area Committee agreed unanimously to match fund this project in partnership with Mayor Sadiq Khan, and I hope local residents and businesses will support it by pledging funds too.”

Ends.
