Underhill Labour councillor and Chipping Barnet Parliamentary Candidate, Amy Trevethan, has called for an update to be given on road safety measures on Chesterfield Road at next week’s Chipping Barnet Area Committee.
Cllr Trevethan first raised the issue with the council in June after an 8 year old boy was seriously injured in an accident with a bus.
Residents have asked for the following road safety measures:
- a 20mph zone on Chesterfield Rd
- a zebra crossing on Chesterfield Rd and on Mays Lane
- improved youth facilities so children have somewhere safe to play
The Environment Committee in July tasked officers with producing a feasibility study based on this request from residents and Cllr Trevethan.
Cllr Amy Trevethan said: "It’s been four months since this serious accident and the road safety issues were raised with the council, so we really need to know what progress has been made with the feasibility study, and what the council is likely to recommend.
"Residents are keen that something is done as soon as possible."
