Hundreds of direct debits fail in Capita bank change cock-up

1,800 direct debits for Barnet Homes rents thought to be worth £1million failed on 2nd April after Capita cocked-up a bank change by not uploading direct debit data, Labour councillors have learned.

The error has apparently now been corrected, but Labour councillors have demanded an explanation and full briefing as to how this happened in the first place.

Leader of the Barnet Labour Group,  Cllr Alison Moore said:

“This is now the third time that Capita have messed up something that is completely basic process and it is unacceptable.

“We've seen incorrect pension data being sent out to council pensioners, claw-back of overpayments to school staff and now this.

"People are rapidly losing confidence in Capita's ability to get even the most basic things right."

Ends.
