Comer Group have revealed details of their latest scheme for the North London Business
Park site (NLBP) in a series of consultation webinars.

  • New scheme is almost double in size
  • 1,150 more units (2,500 in total – up from 1,350)
  • Block heights up to 13 storeys
  • School expansion planned
  • No details on affordable housing

Key dates:

  • Pre-consultation completed by the developer
  • Application likely to be submitted to the Council in June 2021
  • Statutory consultation will be announced once the Council have received the
    application
  • Phase 1 to start on site in 2022 (subject to Planning permission)
  • Phases 2-5 following up to 2029 (subject to Planning permission)

Local Labour councillor for Brunswick Park, Cllr Kathy Levine, objected to the previous planning application on the basis of the density of the units on the site, the height of the blocks, the impact on local residents and on the local infrastructure, and that insufficient affordable housing had been included.

The Planning Committee rejected the application, but the Conservative Secretary of State,
Robert Jenrick, overruled the decision and has sided with the developer. The new scheme
is even worse over-development than the last application with little community benefit.
Unless there are significant changes to the proposal Cllr Levine will object to the new application.

No to overdevelopment on NLBP!

We, the undersigned, petition Barnet Council to make it clear to Comer Group that their plans to nearly double the number of units in the new NLBP development and to increase the maximum height of blocks within the development to 13 storeys goes against Local Plan policies and is not acceptable.
