Many residents are concerned that the regeneration scheme for North Finchley will include a high-rise tower block on Lodge Lane car park.

The Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for North Finchley sets out that development on the car park should be between 3-6 storeys.

But residents are not confident that developers will respect the maximum height proposed in the SPD. This has already happened at the Homebase site which is in the SPD area. The developer proposed high-rise tower blocks for that site that were well above the heights set out in the SPD.

Fortunately, that development was rejected by the Planning Committee, but the developer is appealing the decision.

No high-rise tower block on Lodge Lane car park

We, the undersigned, petition Barnet Council to make clear to developers involved in the North Finchley Regeneration that the SPD heights are the upper limit, not the lower limit, and that the planning application for Lodge Lane car park should respect the heights set out in the SPD. We believe Barnet Council must listen to residents and stand up to developers to ensure there is no high-rise tower block built on Lodge Lane car park.
