We understand that Kingspan Kooltherm K15 insulation material is being used in the remediation works of at least one block over 60 feet in Barnet. London Fire Brigade has stated that the material should not be stored under the block in question because it is combustible. If insulation material is not safe to be stored under a building we believe it should not be used in the building.

We, the undersigned, petition the Government to investigate urgently, and, if necessary, ban the continued use of Kingspan Kooltherm K15 insulation material in buildings, and any other similar combustible insulation or combustible materials used in cladding buildings.

The K15 material was used in Grenfell Tower and has failed a series of fire safety tests. We understand the material has been discontinued by the manufacturer, and banned for use on newbuilds over 60 feet, but regulations still allow its use where buildings are being made safe.

Ban use of combustible material in buildings
