East Finchley's Labour councillors, Arjun Mittra, Alison Moore and Alon Or-bach, have welcomed the commencement of works to upgrade pedestrian crossing facilities on East End Road near Stanley Road.
Funding to install a zebra crossing was provided by the planning contributions of the Archer Academy, who also paid for an upgrade to another crossing on East End Road near Market Place last year.
Cllr Arjun Mittra said: "Pedestrian safety is a real priority for us, and we are extremely grateful to the Archer Academy, who paid for these improvements and helped us lobby the Council to progress the works."
Cllr Alison Moore said: "Whilst we are pleased to finally see progress on this long running campaign to improve safety for school children and the wider community, we are still pressing Barnet Council to take action on other much needed improvements, such as sorting out parking in Stanley Road."
