Cost of Living

The cost of living is spiralling, both locally and nationally.

Under the Barnet Conservatives increases in things like parking charges have effectively added the equivalent of 7% to council tax for some residents and forced many people to desert their local town centres! That's why we've introduced our parking pledge.

The Barnet Conservatives have also shut 8 children's centres and cut affordable child care. A Labour council in Barnet would work with the next Labour government to ensure that working parents will get 25 hours of free childcare for kids aged between 3 and 4.

We'll also be campaigning hard to ensure that this January the Conservative Mayor Boris Johnson doesn't put public transport fares up by more than inflation yet again. We want him to freeze fares to give Londoners struggling with the cost of living a helping hand.

Under the Conservatives locally and nationally the cost of living has got worse. But we have a plan to help you by introducing an energy price freeze among other measures.

I signed the other one about the deficit and now I’m going to sign this! David Cameron may not be PM any more but that still doesn’t give him the right to be out of touch. I am on board with this movement!
