Christ College governors vote for co-educational status

School Governors at Christ College School on East End Road, East Finchley have voted in favour of converting the school to becoming co-educational, and accepting both boys and girls from September 2018. This follows a recent public consultation in which more than two-thirds of the public who responded supported the proposals.

East Finchley Councillor Arjun Mittra said he and fellow councillors Alison Moore and Alon Or-bach supported the change, and were pleased that Governors had voted with the majority of the public. He said:

"This decision will greatly benefit children in the N2, N3 and NW11 postcodes, giving more choice locally and reducing pressure on the Archer Academy. I think there are going to be an awful lot of relieved parents who find it very stressful thinking about which secondary school their children will be going to.

"We publicised the consultation and our views have been very clear on this for many years. We have listened to residents as they raised this on the doorstep with us, and it comes as no surprise that there were a large number of responses and that the answers were unambiguous."
