Under the ‘One Barnet’ programme even the dead are for sale!
Remember Westminster who sold off their cemeteries, but the graves were not looked after properly and they then had to buy them back at a higher cost?
Do we want the same for Barnet?
Barnet council undertook an in-house officer review of Cemeteries and Crematoria, which concluded that the best value for the service was for the council to continue running it and retain any income generated which can be re-invested in local services.
Under 'One Barnet' the council will have to share Cemeteries and Crematoria income with a private company, and burial or interment charges may go up.
