Barnet’s funding from the Mayor of London and TfL for road and transport works has been cut by £125,000 according to a report at last Wednesday’s Environment Committee. This funding was due to be spent on supporting the development and regeneration of Barnet’s town centres, for which the council had allocated £334,000. The council have now reduced the number of town centre regeneration schemes in their Local Implementation Plan submission.
Labour’s Environment Spokesperson, Cllr Alan Schneiderman said: “It’s extremely disappointing that the Mayor of London and TfL have cut this funding from Barnet at a time when our town centres need as much support as they can get.
“It’s a small sum of money for the Mayor, but it would make a real difference to our town centres.”
